AN ANALYSIS OF COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT FOR URBAN SUSTAINABILITY

Abstract
Urban centres are places to promote science, culture, innovation, economic, environmental, and social development, in addition, they cover most of the population, who need to have their needs met, considering the premise of sustainable development, of promoting economic and social development without harming the environment, can be implemented in urban centres through urban sustainability. One of the main characteristics for the promotion of sustainability in urban centres is the promotion of community development, based on civil participation in the contribution of decision-making processes. The promotion of community involvement can occur in different ways such as participation in local, formal, and individual collective institutions, in the levels of trust that generate the whole city as issues of safety, health and education, social interactions, allowing urban centres to become ethical when they apply an urban development approach that seeks to carry out their policies and actions for and for the needs of their citizens. This article aims to verify how community involvement for urban sustainability can occur, based on a literature review.
