Abstract

In recent years, sustainability has become one of the main objectives of companies in the construction industry. The generation of construction waste grows according to the economic development of a society and more than 75% of the waste generated by civil construction can be recycled or reused in the construction itself. To develop actions for the correct management of the RCC, it is to carry out a local diagnosis, identifying origin, generation rate, agents involved in generation and collection, final destination to form a basis for dimensioning actions to meet the current resolution. The objective of this work is to present an overview of construction and demolition waste (RCC) in the municipality of Rio Grande - RS. The final diagnosis resulting from the research was that 150 m³ of RCC are produced monthly at a per capita generation rate of 1.14 kg/inhab/year. The gravimetric composition showed that 99% of the RCC produced refer to class A waste, which has great potential for reuse and recycling.
