ABSTRACT


This present research examines some consequences of tourism on the management of and sewage at the Hotel Wish Foz do Iguaçu, a city that has its economy focused on tourism. Foz do Iguaçu corresponds to one of the Brazilian destinations most visited by foreign tourists in Brazil. The theoretical approach was: quantitative and qualitative research, using the questionnaire as instrument of data collection. To evaluate the results, the content analysis approach was used. The study identified the reasons for adopting the resort's environmental policy and to identify the perception of the actors involved, regarding the results obtained with this policy. The dissemination of information about an environmental policy with clear goals and objectives, which includes all issues related to the hotel's socio-environmental activities, is presented in this study as one of the main needs for effective voluntary behavior. It is hoped that this dissertation could contribute to a discussion on proactive behavior in hotels as well as the evaluation of the environmental management model applied in the resort, could improve more open discussions regarding sustainability in the hotel industry.
