Abstract
The mining activity in Brazil today plays a fundamental role in the economic scenario, but its operation, when not monitored and inspected in accordance with current regulatory standards, can cause major environmental and social impacts, considering that the ore residues from this activity are deposited in reservoirs known as tailings dams. Considering the useful life of these dams and their current difficulties in obtaining new environmental licenses, mining companies need to create new processes and methods to reduce the storage of these tailings in these reservoirs. In this context, the present study aimed to demonstrate the economic, social and environmental viability regarding the application of mining waste in the civil construction scenario, based on the use of these wastes in the elaboration of a project model, having as a prototype a popular housing complex where all its structuring will use materials such as hydraulic tiles used for interior finishes of residences. The reuse of mining waste in civil construction is an innovative sustainable practice that contributes to environmental preservation, cost reduction and job creation. With the advancement of technology and the development of more efficient techniques, it is expected that this practice will be increasingly adopted, thus contributing to a more sustainable and responsible construction sector.
