Sustainability in project management is importante toguide organizations towards a sustainable development model. Therefore, it is necessary tounder stand the mechanisms of their insertion in diferente área sof knowledge. Despite the growing diffusion of project management, the discussion of issues related to sustainability in its economic, environment a land social dimensions is still incipient. The presente work analyzed the insertion of sustainability in the contexto of project management. The methodological approach used was na exploratory study with a qualitative approach, Applied to two large projects developed by companies in the mining and steel sector. For data collection, Project documents and semi-structured interviews were also used with the use of a checklist tool with the managers and team of these projects. With the application of the preliminar Project sustainability assessment tool and the perception diagnosis, it was concluded that despite the economic dimension overlap pingth e others, the environmental dimension is also significantly considered when it comes to the management of these major works, and this fact occurs mainly dueto issues of legal environmental regulations and socio-environmental responsibility of these companies, which have al ready included this dimension in their strategy and business conduct. The social dimension, in spite of being well considered, should be the target of more engagement on the part of the projects, seeking a greater balance between the tripod of sustainability (“Triplo-Botton Line”).
