Abstract
ABSTRACT
Sustainable Development is a topic that constitutes a global concern and is on the agenda of many countries that belong to the United Nations and that in 2015 defined the “2030 Agenda” and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), that aim to balance economic growth with the protection of the environment and the promotion of social equity. This work pretends to understand the importance of implementing the circular economic model for sustainable development in Luanda, Angola. A mixed methodology was used (based on a quantitative and qualitative approach), using case studies (multicase type), like questionnaires and interviews to collect data; participants (students and managers from public and private organizations). The results point to the existence of a good perception about the benefits of the model; a little is known about organizational practices; There are some government initiatives, but they are little known. The study concluded that the circular economy model has great importance, as there are several benefits for the environment, economy, organizations and the community in general. However, more initiatives are needed from the Government. As recommendations, we suggest the creation of waste management programs across the country and the creation of a circular economic model by the Government.
