Main Article Content
Abstract
This work aimed to analyze the environmental perception of students from the Environmental Technician and Sanitation Technician courses, integrated to high school, of the Federal Institute of Pará (IFPA) - Tucuruí Campus, about the environment and environmental problems. A descriptive research was developed and data collection, of a qualitative-quantitative nature, took place through a questionnaire composed of 20 questions made available to the participants through the Google Forms tool. 78 students participated in the study, aged between 14 and 20 years, living in five municipalities: Tucuruí-Pa, Breu Branco-Pa, Belém-Pa, Parauapebas-Pa and Baião-Pa. Many participants reported the existence of problems related to basic sanitation in the municipalities where they live. It was observed that many students can understand what environmental problems are, however they have difficulty in identifying them in places close to their homes. It was found that at the IFPA-Campus Tucuruí, environmental issues are addressed with high or medium frequency and, as for Environmental Education actions, the institution received, from most participants, the Great or Good concept. From the answers obtained with the questionnaire, a booklet was produced consisting of information related to solid waste and the quality of water that will be made available to students. The realization of this research made it possible to collect data that can contribute to the improvement and strengthening of actions linked to Environmental Education at the IFPA- Campus Tucuruí and to a more efficient approach to issues related to the environment and environmental problems within the scope of the courses to which was directed to research.
