Abstract

Contamination of aquatic ecosystems by heavy metals is a problem that affects the health and well-being of all and ecotoxicological studies based on bioremediation can bring us viable alternatives to solve this problem, in addition to encouraging practical-pedagogical activities through Based Learning in Projects (ABP). Content with a high degree of complexity tends to be better understood in PBL approaches, because students who are currently in basic education classrooms, especially in technical schools, are different from all generations that preceded them, seeking more and more resources based on technologies, analysis and problem solving that enable them to enter the labor market. The objective of this work is to present an experience report showing the result of the elaboration of a research project that seeks to select analytical methods associated with aquatic macrophytes to bioremediate aquatic ecosystems contaminated by heavy metals. The result is a well-designed project that presents the development of critical sense on the part of students, in addition to enhancing planning skills, organizing bibliographic data and engaging in complex topics such as ecotoxicology, bioremediation and analytical methodologies.
