RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE PREPARATION OF A MANAGEMENT PLAN INTEGRATED TO SDGs 06, 13 AND 15 FOR THE APA MANANCIAIS DO RIO PARAÍBA DO SUL

Abstract

This article focuses on SDG 06, 13 and 15, which deal respectively with the management of water resources, combating the effects of climate change and forest protection. The aim of this work is to present some proposals for the implementation of SDGs for the MRPS APA, which can be incorporated into the preparation of a management plan, considering the importance of the territory of this conservation unit (UC) for the basin. This is a case study that aims to describe specific cases related to the theory, with qualitative data collection, bibliographic and documentary research. The Paraíba do Sul river basin (BHRPS) is responsible for approximately 10% of the Brazilian GDP and for supplying three important states in the Southeast Region: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais. Due to its occupation history it presents a high environmental degradation and conflicts related to its multiple uses. The MRPS APA is a strategic planning and management instrument for the basin, protecting and recovering water sources and conserving local biodiversity, which is challenged by the lack of a management plan. SDGs 06, 13, and 15 have the possibility of being incorporated into the APA management plan for the program of environmental conservation, environmental education, and environmental recovery through management actions corresponding to the goals of the respective SDGs. The proposals established by the study are contributions that can be considered by future managers of the MRPS APA, in the preparation of the management plan contemplating in its programs and actions the SDGs 06, 13 and 15.
