PROPOSALS FOR IMPROVEMENTS IN THE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM OF A CERAMIC INDUSTRY LOCATED IN SANGÃO/SC

Abstract

The new economy is based on a more demanding and rigid posture on the part of consumers, who are predisposed to buy and use ecologically correct products. Companies that are concerned with managing the environmental impacts of their activities achieve a significant improvement in the management of their natural resources, and consequently manage to reduce costs, improve the company's image vis-à-vis customers, suppliers and especially in relation to the local community. The present work aimed to evaluate the environmental aspects and impacts of a red ceramic industry, through the application of NBR ISO 14.001/2015, aiming to provide the improvement of its processes and products. The work consisted of a case study, carried out through literature reviews, analysis of documentary records, interviews and observations "in loco". The work was carried out in three stages: the survey of the project's environmental aspects and impacts through the LAIA tool, the environmental diagnosis of the current environmental controls and the last stage consisted of the proposals for programs and actions aimed at improving the environmental performance of the company. Among the actions and improvements imposed, there is the reduction of consumption of its environmental aspects (fuel and energy), the proposal of improvements to its current PGRS (Solid Waste Management Program), the preparation of training programs for its employees, and in accordance with the guidelines of NBR ISO 14001, the elaboration of an environmental policy, which aims to involve all employees, with the continuous improvement of its environmental management system.
