IDENTIFICATION OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS OF THE NEW BRIDGE OVER THE JAGUARÃO RIVER USING THE METHODOLOGY OF SEMI-STRUCTURED QUESTIONNAIRES
Main Article Content
Abstract
The execution of infrastructure works is essential to economic growth and development. In cross-border cities, the existence of adequate infrastructure in works that link these cities is of paramount importance, as they are the gateway to the flow of goods, which, consequently, is fundamental to the economy of both countries. Environmental licensing is a procedure that conditions the entrepreneur to carry out several previous studies of the intended work, as a way to ascertain all the types of environmental impacts that such work may cause, as well as proposing measures to mitigate them. The municipality of Jaguarão, Rio Grande do Sul, is in the process of environmental licensing for the construction of a new bridge over the Jaguarão River, which will connect the municipality to the city of Rio Branco, in Uruguay. The present work aimed to identify environmental impacts that may occur in the construction stages of the new bridge over the Jaguarão River, through the application of a semi-structured questionnaire for the population of the municipality of Jaguarão, comparing the results with the impacts previously identified in the Study of Environmental Impact (EIA) of the new bridge over the Jaguarão River. It was possible to observe that, despite the wide scope of the EIA, socioeconomic impacts were identified in addition to those identified in the EIA, which indicates the importance of research with the local population, thus promoting greater efficiency in the identification of environmental impacts.
