SUSTAINABLE URBAN DRAINAGE: ANALYSIS IN A DENSELY URBANIZED MICROBASIN
Main Article Content
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The Brazilian urbanization process in the 20th century was intense, generating large cities with high demographic density due to the accelerated and disorganized growth of the population. This growth was not accompanied by the necessary urban planning, a fact that, together with the overvaluation of the road system and the hygienist vision with which the drainage systems were designed, resulted in a high rate of soil sealing, significantly altering the flow and water balance of urban waters. The occupation of floodplains, valleys and slopes in cities with the removal of vegetation that previously existed in these places increases the frequency and severity of urban floods, causing great material and human damage. In this context, the present work aimed to study the implementation of compensatory urban drainage techniques, based on the Green Infrastructure, in the Alto Anhumas microbasin inserted in the Ribeirão Anhumas Sub-basin - Atibaia Basin, located in the city of Campinas, SP, taking taking into account the urbanization process already implemented in the place. For this purpose, a bibliographical and documentary survey of national and international literature was carried out; Municipal and regional plans and programs; data provided by the Municipality of Campinas and by government agencies; current urban and environmental legislation. It is concluded that the implementation of several small-scale elements based on green infrastructure techniques, distributed throughout the microbasin, can contribute to solving or at least minimizing the current drainage problems in the area.
