As conservation units they play a fundamental role in protecting natural resources. The set of these protected areas make up the National System of Conservation Units - SNUC. As a Private Reserve, the subject of this research, it is the only privately managed conservation unit. The present study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the management of seven RPPNs, in the state of Sergipe. The methodology “Medición de la Efectividad de Gestão de Protected Areas (EMAP)” was used, in seven areas and thirty characteristics. Four of the studied RPPNs classified as classified in the range of medium quality standard and three with inferior standard. Better coordination between managers and public authorities is recommended for the purpose of joint actions to improve the management of these units.
