Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the conditions of sanitation in the neighborhood of Roça Grande, located in the city of Cunha in the state of São Paulo, making sure that the treatment is really appropriate, and provides technical information to residents on how to properly treatment. Based on the analysis of the current conditions suitable water treatments are proposed the use of alternative techniques, rarely used in brazil until now, for proper treatment of sewage and tap house household water (from the sinks and showers). The proposed techniques are based on the principle of Permaculture. They have the advantage of being economically efficient since they are based on the use of regionally found materials as well as the recycling of materials such as tires and leftover debris. For the treatment of sewage the use of evaporation basin (BET) method is being proposed. The main principle of this method is the use of broad-leaved plants that can utilize the anaerobic waste decomposed by batteries as a source of nutrition while eliminating the excess water by evaporation. For the treatment of clear water, another technique, known as circle of bananas is proposed. This technique already used in Permaculture, is simple and inexpensive and also uses plants which through the process of evaporation eliminate the excess water. In addition, the study will also discuss and analyze the importance that the population awareness (through lectures and community meetings) has on the proper use of nature's resources. The ultimate goal of this study is to propose methods that can help improve the quality of life for residents while having a positive impact on the environment. The awareness and educational component of the study will serve as a small step towards the difficult effort to replace the paradigm of conquest with the paradigm of care.
