Abstract
ABSTRACT
The conversion of forest areas into agricultural activities causes changes in the landscape. The development of such activities is often associated with fires or even fires. This factor becomes a greater problem when it occurs in a forest area. In this sense, the municipality of Paragominas stands out for its strong dynamics of land use, mainly in agricultural activities. Therefore, the present research aimed to carry out a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the distribution of fire outbreaks by land use class, in the municipality of Paragominas-PA. To this end, a data search was carried out on the website of the National Institute for Space Research – INPE, referring to the land use classes of the TerraClass project and fire hotspots, for the years 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014. The data obtained belongs to orbits/point 222/62, 223/62. Their processing was carried out in the ArcMap 10.1 software environment. There was a greater number of areas, in hectare, for the classes of forests, clean pasture and secondary vegetation. The year 2012 had the highest number of fires compared to other years. The forest, clean pasture and secondary vegetation classes showed higher percentages of outbreaks, with emphasis on the considerable increase from 2008 to 2010, of outbreaks in areas of secondary vegetation, and from 2012 to 2014, of outbreaks in clean pasture. In this context, it was observed that the dynamics of distribution of outbreaks occurred in the same proportion as the number of areas of the classes analyzed.
