This exploratory research and data collection and within the idea of a sustainable economy, what impacts restricting the use of plastic bags in supermarkets in the municipality of Brusque can have on nature. Through observations in the research field and based on bibliographical analysis, subsidies were sought for the study, such as: analysis of local reality, impact of plastic waste disposal, observation of recent damage to the environment and viable alternatives for replacing current raw materials for biodegradable. In view of this, there was a need to involve the municipal public authorities together with the private sector in order to inform and instruct the local population on conscious consumption and also to move towards the drafting of a municipal law that regulates the issue of plastic bags. It was clear that for the situation of plastic bag waste to decrease, participation from the community in general is essential, which is why this study seeks to start a discussion in the city that makes the population value respect and care for the environment. environment, as well as create environmental awareness so that some changes in habits can actually happen and collaborate with the environment.
