Abstract
ABSTRACT
This article proposes the creation of an index to measure sustainability actions at an advanced campus of the Federal Institute of Mato Grosso, with the aim of strengthening practices and ensuring greater transparency in actions related to the subject. Sustainability refers to the ability to create means to meet the basic needs of the present without affecting future generations, relating economic, social, cultural, and environmental actions to preserve natural resources. Thus, actions need to be taken for this to happen today. Today, however, sustainability is not yet an overdue topic, but work such as this can contribute to improving and, above all, measuring sustainability. To develop this index, the dimensions that characterize sustainability and the relevant variables were identified. An index was then created and validated using structured interviews and on-site visits. The data was spreadsheeted and analyzed using Microsoft Office Excel software. As a result, the institution received a score of 48.15 percent, which indicates that its sustainability actions are considered deficient. However, it is hoped that the institution will be provided with data on which to base new strategic decisions regarding investments and resource allocations in order to strengthen the institution's performance in the field of sustainability.
