Abstract
ABSTRACT The inadequate management of solid waste, especially urban waste, is among the main current socio-environmental problems worldwide. In this scenario, educational institutions constitute important spaces for reflection and strengthening commitments to promoting local, regional and planetary sustainability. This text deals with the Sustainable Logistics Management Plan (PLS) of the Federal University of Southern Bahia (UFSB) and its implementation on one of its campuses, namely the Paulo Freire campus, in Teixeira de Freitas-BA. Through documentary research and interviews with members of the academic community, we sought to understand how the institution's PLS translates into everyday actions in the university environment. Among the difficulties encountered in its implementation are the lack of adequate physical space and personnel to coordinate the selective collection, storage and proper disposal of all waste produced on the campus. However, the institution's main challenge is critical, transdisciplinary and continuous environmental education with a view to strengthening ecological citizenship.
