Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study focused on analyzing the vegetation in the springs and banks of the Uruçuí-Preto river, located in the extreme south of Gilbués county, Piauí State, Brazil. The research emphasizes the floristic diversity of the Cerrado and the influence of human activities on this ecosystem. In the three plots installed at the source of the river (first and second plots) and at a touristic are (third plot), we identiied10 plant species, distributed among different botanical families, with the Melastomataceae family standing out, with the predominant presence of the Macairea radula species. In the second plot, despite being impacted by fire, there were three additional species. The vegetation in the riverbed shows specific characteristics, with the presence of species adapted to waterlogged soils, including a rare carnivorous plant, Drosera sessilifolia, highlighting the diversity of the environment and the importance of preserving of that ecosystem that are sensitive to human disturbance.
