Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the inconsistencies and influence of public participation in the Environmental Licensing Process of the Drilling Project of FZA-M-57, 86, 88, 125 and 127 Blocks conducted by the company Total, at the Amazonas River Mouth Basin, through a qualitative research, analyzing the public documents of the process. The degree of importance of the theme enabled a wide possibility of discussion and debates about the way and effectiveness that the company used in the activity environmental studies, which contained mostly only secondary data and presented a very precarious and reductionist approach to environmental and social issues. It can be concluded that the environmental studies lack a relevant contextualization and evaluation to show the magnitude and the region socioenvironmental significance affected by a project of this typology and, consequently, highlighted the social concern with the region of the Amazonas River Mouth Basin, refuge of very important Brazilian ecosystems.
