ABSTRACT

Health systems are complex and depend on innovation to provide social well-being. Paradoxically, it is part of this well-being, the contribution of the segment to favor the ecosystem, even avoiding the impact of frequent diseases in the world population, arising or aggravated by unsustainable innovations. However, the continuous development of innovations that occurs in the health segment is not always favorable for them to be evaluated how much they have made sustainable or not the organizations that use them, since the central concern of innovation in the area is the cure or control of diseases, often in a dynamic and urgent way, as witnessed in the recent pandemic. Adaptation actions become indispensable and hospitals are organizations that also need to adapt to these changes. Thus, this article presents an overview of sustainable development and ecoinnovation and the idea of these concepts in the health segment later describing some relevant actions related to these aspects for the so-called "green health systems".
