Abstract
ABSTRACT
The main objective of this article is to highlight the sources of growth of agricultural production in the municipality of Acará, which had national prominence in agricultural production. This study reveals that in the period from 2000 to 2020, the cultivation of black pepper, cassava, cocoa and palm oil, and extraction of açaí, wood and Brazil nuts, as well as the raising of cattle and other small animals, for the production of milk and honey, were extremely important for the economic growth of the municipality and that from 2002, sustainable rural development became a practice in the fight against environmental excesses, as well as the exploitation of charcoal, which was gradually being replaced by more profitable activities with less environmental impact. Another important data revealed in this research is that in 2006, the municipal GDP was 20.45% coming from the agricultural activity. It was also found that the products derived from cassava, mainly flour, have served as a staple food for the subsistence of a large part of Acaraense families and that with technical follow-up and adaptation to associativism, there was an increase in productivity and greater demand for access to the lines of credit fostered by financial institutions.
