Abstract

This article is entitled “Impacts of the Chirruque Forest on the Development of the Local Community” and seeks to understand the impacts of the Chirruque Forest on the development of the local community. The study was conducted using a qualitative approach, seeking to discuss the impacts offered by the forest on the development of the locality through interviews with local residents to obtain relevant research data. The results of the research clearly show that one of the impacts of the forest is the reduction of poverty and, on the one hand, it is the basis of the Convention on Biodiversity. And, on the other hand, it protects the community from Climate Change and Combats Desertification. Some residents also claim that the forest brings some benefits such as the retention of carbon in the form of carbon dioxide (CO2) that is retained by the stems and roots of the trees.
