Abstract
Abstract
This article investigated how the adoption of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices can leverage the foreign trade of a medium-sized company in the citrus sector. Using a mixed methodology, which combines qualitative and quantitative approaches, this case study analyzed the impacts before and after the implementation of ESG practices. The results showed substantial improvements in environmental, social, and governance aspects. Environmentally, the transition to sustainable energies and the optimization of irrigation systems were actions that reduced ecological impacts and costs. Socially, better working conditions and higher labor satisfaction were achieved by the company, along with a stronger community presence. In terms of governance, transparent policies, internal audits, and a code of ethics reaffirm the company's commitment to the integrity of its operations. Commercially, the company's international presence increased, meeting the demand for sustainable products. It was concluded that the adoption of ESG actions strengthened competitiveness in the international market, promoted the sustainability of the company's operations, and reinforced its social responsibility. Therefore, the integration and dissemination of these practices in business strategies are recommended.
