Abstract

In this work, we present Artificial Insemination in FiThe main objective of this study was to compare the performance of weight gain in whole or castrated cattle in a feedlot breeding and fattening system in an agribusiness unit. The study was conducted between March and August 2019, and was conducted in the Granja Rohr confinement, located in Tupandi, Rio Grande do Sul. In the course of the research, data were collected from the existing documentation and spreadsheets completed on the farm itself and through direct observation. From the data collection, daily weight gains calculations (GPD) were performed, as well as the analysis of these results. We compared 9-month-old Braford weaned animals at the feedlot entrance and 14-month-old slaughtered from the same brood farm and fed the same nutrition to both during the rearing and fattening period. Whole animals have a higher GPD (Daily Weight Gain) than castrated animals.
xed Time (IATF) as one of the main alternatives for the genetic improvement of beef cattle. We will see that this me-thod offers many advantages for breeders, although they still have a slightly high cost. With the use of this instrument, it is possible to correct many management flaws and genetically introduce exactly what is missing in the herd, for example, the grea-test weight gain. In this sense, we can say that with the IATF it is possible to concen-trate the entire protocol: pregnancy detection, resynchronization or transfer with bulls in a short period of time, in addition to concentrating the highest pregnancy rate for the beginning of the breeding season. Through this technique, the breeder greatly reduces the chances of contamination of females with reproduc-tive diseases that are more common in natural breeding.  The owner of the Baby Beef Project, it was introduced the calf on its property, through IATF, would be able to introduce genetics into its re-bath and deliver standardized calves with high quality control to the market. For this reason, in 2017 he inseminated 700 hei-fers aged 24 months, with transfer made by natural breeding, obtaining a pregnancy rate of 91%. In the following year, 1,020 calves and 620 cows were inseminated in the same transfer system and the rates were 88.5%. In 2019, 170 early 15-month-old heifers, 270 24-month-old heifers and 1,250 cows were added, again obtaining the overall rate of 91%.
