The competitive corporate world demands that companies produce more by spending less and complying with legal obligations regarding the environment. Therefore, the present case study aimed to analyze and understand the waste management of a metallurgical company in the cutlery sector, and how it was able to modify the disposal of its landfill ETDI sludge to composting, reducing the costs of operation and destination of the waste and eliminating the use of the landfill, joining economy with sustainability. This study had the collaboration of the company Mundial S/A located in the municipality of Gravataí RS and its collaborators. The methodology consisted of a descriptive analysis of the research performed and the methods used by the company's environmental sector for the development of this technology change.
