Barra Velha, a municipality located on the northern coast of Santa Catarina, has been recurrently affected by storm surges, causing significant impacts on the population and coastal infrastructure. This study aimed to analyze records of events associated with coastal erosion from 2001 to 2025, based on data from the Integrated Disaster Information System (S2ID), official documents, and digital media, in order to construct an integrated overview of the issue. The results indicated thirteen events recorded in the S2ID, while complementary sources revealed additional occurrences and a broader spatial extent of impacts. The most affected areas are concentrated at Península beach, followed by Pedras Brancas e Negras beach and Grant beach. Ten municipal decrees were identified, including nine Emergency Declarations and one State of Public Calamity. The findings highlight the intensification of erosive processes over the analyzed period and reveal limitations in official records regarding both coverage and data quality. It is concluded that underreporting and data inconsistencies hinder the understanding of coastal risks, reinforcing the need to improve recording systems and to integrate such information into territorial planning and disaster risk management.
