ABSTRACT
Noise pollution arising from leisure events in residential areas could disrupt public peace and cause damage to health. Nightly Noise causes greater discomfort because much of this period is usually devoted to sleep and rest. This work aimed to evaluate the noise level emitted by the evening parties at the XX Medical Students Regional Olympiad in Vassouras-RJ, and compare it with the levels set by federal and municipal laws, targeting the community acoustic comfort. An automatic measuring equipment was used to quantify the equivalent noise intensity in decibels, in A [dB (A)] in 10 selected points. The results showed that the noise level reached 94.6 dB (A), which corresponds to 89.2% and 110.2% above the maximum limits established in federal and municipal laws, respectively, for the nighttime.
