Abstract

ABSTRACT 

Environmental education is seen as one of the main tools for connecting local communities and ecological issues present in Conservation Units, a strategy that was implemented in the Ibirapuitã APA, as part of the Restaur APA project, developed in theareabetween 2020 and 2024. Thus, the school environment was used as a means to work on topics such as native species, IAS and use of natural resources, through book lets focused on the ecology and culture of the Pampa Biome. In-personand online meetings helpedtointegratetheproposalsfromschools in the region in to the material prepared, such as ethnobotany, water resources and waste damage, complementing the topics al ready defined. Most environmental education projects still lack a more in-depth social approach. It is essential to include a detailed analysis of the local social context, considering different realities and lever aging existing opportunities. The educators' vision for environmental education projects was fundamental torestructuring a traditional academic perspective, fostering a betterunderstandingoflocal needsandinterests.
