Abstract

A drainage system is the main means of rainwater drainage. In the absence of a good drainage system, rains can cause serious damage to the population, public structures, private goods and many inconveniences to cities: erosion, flooding, floods, increased transmission of diseases and material losses, if not human lives. Well-designed urban drainage works are increasingly required, as conditions for the execution and/or release of infrastructure works, such as paving, new housing developments, among others. The lack of public investments in the last 30 years in general, or with poorly dimensioned investments in new works, or in the improvement of existing works to control urban erosion and floods, however with the accelerated growth of cities in recent years, there is a certain urgency in planning and implementing actions in this area.
