Main Article Content
Abstract
The risks and the complexity of postmodern society, requires consideration of " the other" in society and therefore the rescue around the otherness’ issue. The study aims to analyze the characteristics of otherness as a condition for the formation of a new subject, the environmental citizen. In this context arises the research problem to be faced: on the real need to extrapolate the geographical horizons of citizenship through a more universal and planetary view in which measure the individual understands its role as an environmental citizen and what are the outlines of this concept. The method used in the study was the deductive. The research shows that the idea of otherness imposes respect both for other human beings and also for the nature, and the urgency of ethical commitments which takes the synergy that must exist between them from a new paradigm.
