HOUSEHOLD WASTE DISPOSAL: A STUDY IN CONDOMINIUMS IN THE CENTRAL REGION OF THE CITY OF SÃO LEOPOLDO – RS
Main Article Content
Abstract
The study in question sought to survey ten condominiums in the central area of the city of São Leopoldo, to verify which procedures were adopted by both residents and liquidators, in relation to the disposal of solid waste. Questionnaires were adopted as a form of research, which were left with the managers of these condominiums for later completion and delivery for data analysis. According to the responses of both liquidators and residents, it was found that although the vast majority of people are aware of what solid waste is disposed of, in practice they do not constantly separate these wastes, or often never do , despite the large amount of information available in the various media. It was found that only with a strong environmental education campaign can this scenario be changed. In addition to this, some form of penalty could also be implemented for residents who do not follow the rules, with notifications or a financial fine.
