Abstract
The relations between rural producers and integrating agribusinesses have driven the development of Brazilian agribusiness, but contractual relationships have generated controversies due to the increasing dependence of producers. Law No. 13,288/2016 was created to regulate these relationships, but its effectiveness is questionable. This article analyzes the factors that influence the effectiveness of the "Integration Law" for pig farmers in the integration system. Using the Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) technique on a sample of 9 pig farmers in Santa Catarina, the study identified two combinations of causal factors that lead to better performance by producers, based on "feed conversion", according to the Boolean function obtained in the QCA analysis. The results point to the importance of knowledge about CADEC, participation in specific meetings, and technical stability as determining factors for the performance of producers in the context of the Integration Law. The interpretation of the Boolean expression provides evidence that the CADEC in the region is not very active. Although this finding does not imply that the Integration Law is ineffective, it shows the need for public actions to improve the Integration system.
