Abstract
ABSTRACT
The growing amount of waste generated by the açaí agroindustry, especially from the seeds, hás raised environmental and social concerns in the municipality of Tucuruí, Pará.This study aimed to map the current technological route of this waste and propose sustainable alternatives for its management. The research was conducted in thre estages: mapping the current routes of açaí pits, proposing na alternative technologica lroute, and proposing mitigating measures for the sustainable and adequate management of the waste. Forty-four frui tpulping establishments were analyzed, considering all stages of waste management, from generation to final disposal. Technical, photographic, and spatial records were also made using tools such as QGIS, Excel, and Google Maps. The results showed that the pits are packed in plastic bags and left on the side walks. Municipal collection is irregular, especially in the suburbs, favoring the accumulation of waste and risks to publiche alth. Final disposal occurs mainly in open dumps, including in Environmental Preservation Areas, contrary to the National Solid Waste Policy and the Environmental Crimes Law. Analternative technological route was proposed with measures such as proper segregation, use of containers, efficient selective collection, and implementation of transfer areas. His route advocated the transition of waste from na environmental liability to a valued and valued resource, with applications in bioenergy, agriculture, and civil construction. It is concluded that integrated strategies, adequate infrastructure, environmental education, and the participation of local actors are essential to promote the circular economy and sustainability.
