Abstract

Some time ago, little was said about the care with the residues generated in chemical laboratories in practical classes and research; from the 90’s this subject became more evidente. Nowadays verifying the polluting potential of waste generated in laboratory practices is extremely important for environmental sustainability. This paper presentes an inventory of the main chemical reagentes and solutions used in the chemistry laboratory and their appropriate amounts. It was also evaluted the contents of organic matter, conductivity, pH and turbidity in some liquid samples used in the laboratory routine of environmental analysis. The results showed that even during environmental analysis, residues with a high contente of organic matter and inadequate pH values can be generated. These values are inappropriate for disposal in the sewer network needing monitoring and treatment before final release.
